I have no idea how transferring a save file from vanilla to GOTY would affect the save but to transfer a save, all you need to do is take the save file you want to transfer from the saves folder (which is located in the Morrowind folder) and transfer it to the saves file on your laptop.

Once you find the Morrowind folder (usually in the Bethesda Softworks folder), there should be a folder in there called "Data Files" where you'll want to dump your mod files. Then, once you start up Morrowind and open the data files mod list, you'll see the mods you have installed and will be able to check them to activate them.
